Holland & Barrett (H&B) launches FORMI™ Weight loss Complex containing SlimBiome®
OptiBiotix Health plc (AIM: OPTI, OTCQB: OPTBF), a life sciences business developing products which reduce hunger and food cravings, enhance the gut microbiome, and sweet fibres as healthy sugar substitutes announces the launch of a new weight management product containing its clinically validated SlimBiome® formulation under Holland & Barrett's ("H&B") new own-brand, FORMI™.
H&B has over 1,600 stores worldwide across 19 countries, including over 700 stores in the United Kingdom. In December 2025 OptiBiotix signed a new 3-year non-exclusive trademark licence agreement (TMLA) granting H&B rights to use SlimBiome® and LeanBiome® marks on new products containing OptiBiotix's patented mineral enriched dietary fibre and prebiotic ingredients. SlimBiome® has now been launched under a newly formed H&B's own-label brand, FORMI™, encompassing active nutrition, weight management, and healthy food products.
The new FORMI WEIGHT LOSS COMPLEX is available online and in H&B stores, sold as a satiety supporting weight loss complex in Raspberry flavoured powdered drink sachets. The product has on-pack health claims of supporting weight management, helping to control blood sugar, and supporting satiety. The product is targeted at consumers seeking non-drug approaches to weight management, including those who are overweight, consumers who do not tolerate GLP-1 treatments, and consumers seeking nutritional support following GLP-1 treatment.
A changing weight management market
The rapid adoption of GLP-1-based medicines has fundamentally changed the weight management market and creating demand for complementary, non-drug approaches. Emerging evidence suggests that weight regain following discontinuation of GLP-1 treatment can be significant, highlighting the potential importance of longer-term approaches to maintaining weight loss. Research from the University of Oxford (BMJ, Jan 2026) has reported that people stopping weight-loss medication can regain weight more rapidly than those ending traditional diet-based programmes. Separately, research published by The Journal of Obesity (2023) highlighted high rates of discontinuation among people prescribed GLP-1 weight-loss medicines and the challenges associated with maintaining weight loss following treatment.
This changing market dynamic has contributed to the emergence of a rapidly growing category of products positioned to support consumers before, during or following GLP-1 treatment. The global GLP-1 support supplements market has been estimated at approximately $1.8 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach $8.9 billion by 2034, representing a CAGR of approximately 18.5% (MarketIntelo, 2026).
The launch of FORMI™ Weight Loss Complex further strengthens OptiBiotix's relationship with H&B and follows H&B's May 2026 announcement of a weight management partnership with online pharmacy Phlo. The partnership provides H&B customers with access to Phlo's clinical weight management services, including GLP-1 anti-obesity medicines, alongside H&B's existing nutrition, wellness and weight management offering. The combination of clinical weight management services with nutritional and lifestyle products reflects the increasingly holistic approach being adopted within the weight management market.
Stephen O'Hara, CEO of OptiBiotix Health plc said: "The introduction and rapid adoption of GLP-1 medicines has led to a fundamental shift in the weight management market and created a significant new opportunity for nutritional products that can complement pharmaceutical approaches.
"SlimBiome®, supported by clinical studies, authorised health claims in major territories and multiple international awards, is increasingly being recognised as a clinically validated, natural approach to appetite, hunger and satiety management. We believe this positions SlimBiome® well both as a non-drug option for consumers seeking support with weight management and as a potential nutritional solution for consumers seeking to maintain their weight following GLP-1 treatment.
"We are particularly pleased to see H&B incorporating SlimBiome® into its new FORMI™ own-brand range. This demonstrates the growing recognition of SlimBiome® by major weight management and health and wellness businesses. We are seeing increasing interest from progressive companies seeking to incorporate SlimBiome® into their own branded products, purchase finished products developed by OptiBiotix, or use SlimBiome® in flavoured or unflavoured sachets as a range extension.
"The launch of FORMI™ Weight Loss Complex represents an important further step in our relationship with H&B and provides an opportunity for SlimBiome® to participate in the expansion of H&B's own-brand weight management portfolio."
