Norman Broadbent (LSE AIM: NBB), a leading Executive Search and Interim Management firm, announces the

appointment of Stephen Wardell to the Board as an independent non-executive director with effect from 21 May 2026.  Steve is also assuming the roles of Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Remuneration Committee upon appointment. 

 

Steve is a retired senior audit partner of KPMG. Having started his audit career with Peak Marwick Mitchell (prescursor to KPMG), he assumed the role of audit partner in 1999 before retiring in 2018. As a KPMG partner, Steve held a number of management positions, was the lead audit partner for listed, privately owned and private equity backed businesses and advised clients across a wide range of matters, including financial reporting and accounting, corporate transactions, governance and financing.

 

Steve has been a non-executive director, audit chair and member of the remuneration committee of Billington Holdings Plc, the AIM company, since 2019 and is non-executive chair of HaysMac, the mid-tier accountancy and professional services business. Steve is an external attendee (non-executive director) on the KPMG Central & Eastern European Region Board and was an external attendee on the KPMG UK Audit Board from 2019 to 2022. From 2018 to 2023, Steve was a Board trustee for the 5% Club, the charity established to increase opportunities through apprenticeships.
