Nichols launches Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water
Building on its successful partnership with THG plc, Nichols expands functional drinks portfolio with launch of new protein water range under multi-year Myprotein brand licence agreement

Nichols plc, the diversified soft drinks Group, is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water, a new ready-to-drink range which offers consumers the benefits of added high-quality protein with zero sugar.
With UK functional drinks sales now valued at £5.8bn and growing by 10% between 2025 and 20261, the launch leverages the growing popularity of health and wellness products among UK consumers. With protein being the most sought-after functional ingredient across all demographics2, the new range strengthens Nichols' position in this high growth category through its first protein fortified drinks.
Under the multi-year brand licence agreement with THG, Nichols will produce Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water and distribute the range through its established nationwide UK distribution network. The launch builds on Nichols' existing partnership with THG, the global e-commerce group and brand owner, which began in 2021. Myprotein, the world's leading online sports nutrition brand, initially licensed the Vimto brand for its Vimto Clear Whey Protein, with the range since expanding into creatine, collagen, pre-workout and gummies. Myprotein's Vimto Clear Whey is now the number one selling clear whey protein product across UK retail3.
Launching in September 2026, the new 500ml ready-to-drink range will be available in two flavours: Vimto and Raspberry Lemon, both of which have proven popular in extensive consumer testing. With an RSP of £2.99, the products are sugar-free, low in calories and contain 15g of clear whey protein, providing a highly refined whey isolate that removes fats and lactose while delivering all essential amino acids. With the UK's top five protein drinks all milk-based, Nichols expects Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water to meet growing consumer demand for protein drinks that deliver refreshment alongside functionality.
The launch reflects Nichols' continued investment in innovation and category expansion, leveraging its expertise in soft drinks development, manufacturing and route-to-market capabilities to enter attractive adjacent categories supported by strong consumer growth trends. Nichols expects the range to be distributed across convenience, wholesale and grocery channels through its established UK retail network.
Myprotein is the latest addition to Nichols' licensed brands portfolio which also includes Levi Roots, ICEE and Sunkist, and represents the continued focus on new product development within its UK Packaged division.
Andrew Milne, CEO of Nichols, commented:
"We are delighted to launch Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water, the latest exciting example of innovation from our UK Packaged business. Building on our successful partnership with THG, this new product combines Vimto's distinctive and much-loved flavour with key functional benefits that are driving engagement among consumers, positioning us to capture part of this rapidly growing market. We're looking forward to building on this exciting launch with Myprotein over the coming years.
Innovation remains key to our growth strategy. This launch combines the world's leading online sports nutrition brand - offering huge credibility in functionality - with Nichols' proven expertise in soft drinks, and is expected to contribute to our delivery of long term, profitable growth."
Neil Mistry, CEO of THG Nutrition, added:
"More and more consumers are looking to boost their protein intake, and functional drinks are becoming an increasingly important way for them to do so. As the UK's leading Clear Whey brand, we've helped redefine how consumers think about protein, and Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water answers that growing demand with an easy, refreshing way to add protein throughout the day. It also represents a natural next step for the Myprotein and Vimto partnership, which has already proven its strength across a range of products.
"By combining Myprotein's expertise in sports nutrition with Nichols' heritage in soft drinks and unrivalled UK retail reach, we're able to put high-quality protein into consumers' hands in more places, and more moments, than ever before. This is not just a new product but a statement of intent - an intentional expansion into refreshing ready-to-drink that reflects where we see the Myprotein brand heading and the role we want to play in Chiller and Impulse."
