Collaboration to evaluate integrated water treatment and biological monitoring solutions
Combines Portsmouth Aviation's PaquaVida water purification technology with Modern Water's Microtox® monitoring platform
Initial focus on opportunities across the GCC water infrastructure sector
Joint evaluation of commercial opportunities in the UK and international markets
Metir plc (AIM: MET), the global provider of fast-response, mobile and point-of-use water and environmental monitoring technologies, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") with Portsmouth Aviation Limited, in respect of its trading division Paqua, a large private UK-based specialist original equipment manufacturer and provider of advanced water purification systems.
Portsmouth Aviation, through its world-leading Paqua brand, specialises in sustainable water purification and disinfection solutions. Its proprietary PaquaVida platform combines advanced water treatment with on-site generation of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) disinfectant, providing safe drinking water from a wide range of non-potable source waters while reducing reliance on bottled water and chemical treatment. The solution is mobile and containerised, provides up to 300,000 litres of potable water per day and is ideal for use in remote locations without established water infrastructure.
The MoU establishes a framework for the parties to evaluate integrated water treatment and biological water-quality monitoring solutions by combining their complementary technologies, with the aim of pursuing commercial opportunities in the UK and international markets.
The collaboration combines PaquaVida's water purification platform with Modern Water's proven Microtox® rapid biological water-quality monitoring technology. In addition, the MoU covers the possibility of collaboration in PFAS detection and pathogen detection. Together, the companies will assess an integrated solution spanning water purification, continuous biological monitoring and real-time water quality analysis for municipal, industrial and desalination customers.
Under the terms of the MoU, the parties intend to evaluate working together on joint customer engagement, technical collaboration, demonstration projects and pilot installations, while assessing opportunities to integrate and deploy their respective technologies across water infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas.
The companies expect to focus initially on opportunities across the Gulf Cooperation Council ("GCC"), where huge investments in desalination, water reuse and critical water infrastructure is driving demand for integrated treatment and monitoring solutions. Modern Water has an established presence in the region, including the deployment of 27 Microtox® Continuous Toxicity Monitors across Doha's drinking water network. Paqua technology is deployed in healthcare, agriculture, commercial buildings, communities and wastewater reuse, with installations across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Portsmouth Aviation is well placed to export to the GCC and already has an established business presence in Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, serving these countries.
"Developing this collaboration broadens the potential application of Modern Water's technologies by combining our proven biological monitoring capabilities with Paqua's advanced water treatment expertise giving a unique offering. Together, we believe we can offer customers a fully integrated solution that supports water quality from treatment through to continuous biological monitoring.
With significant investment continuing across the Middle East and internationally in water security, desalination and water reuse infrastructure, we believe developing this partnership provides an attractive platform from which to pursue new commercial opportunities."
"Paqua's mission is to deliver sustainable, high-quality water treatment solutions often in remote locations and partnering with Metir enables us to complement those capabilities with proven rapid biological water-quality monitoring. We believe our technologies are highly complementary and look forward to evaluating how we can develop commercial opportunities across existing and emerging markets."
