PFAS Development and Commercial Update

Progress with Puraffinity and Swansea University alongside new distributor appointment

Metir plc (AIM: MET), the global provider of fast-response, mobile and point-of-use water and environmental monitoring technologies, is pleased to provide an update on commercial and development progress across its water testing and PFAS detection technologies.

Highlights

·  Collaboration with Puraffinity to evaluate Metir's proprietary PFAS detection platform alongside advanced PFAS removal technology in field applications.

·   Puraffinity programme will assess rapid, on-site measurement of PFAS concentrations before and after treatment, with the potential to demonstrate an integrated 'detect, treat and verify' approach.

·    Collaboration with Swansea University progresses, with its Centre for Integrative Semiconductor Materials ("CISM") using the Microsaic Systems PFAS Detector to monitor PFAS emissions from semiconductor manufacturing waste streams.

·    Streamline Hydro appointed as a distributor for Metir's Modern Water products across Australia and New Zealand, expanding the Group's commercial coverage in the region.

Puraffinity collaboration

Puraffinity is a UK-based water technology company commercialising advanced materials specifically engineered to capture and remove PFAS from water. Its groundbreaking small-footprint adsorbent media technology is designed for use across a range of applications, including municipal and industrial water treatment, landfill leachate, contaminated groundwater, and environmental remediation.

Under the Collaboration Agreement, Metir and Puraffinity will undertake a programme to evaluate Metir's proprietary PFAS detection platform using its Microsaic Systems' technology, deployed alongside Puraffinity's PFAS removal technology to provide rapid analytical data at the point of treatment.

This unique programme for the semiconductor manufacturing industry will measure PFAS concentrations in water before and after Puraffinity treatment, providing near real-time data on treatment performance and the effectiveness of PFAS removal. PFAS analysis typically requires samples to be collected and transported to specialist laboratories for testing using conventional mass spectrometry equipment, often with lengthy delays before results are received.

Metir's proprietary miniaturised mass spectrometry platform has been developed and is being optimised to provide highly sensitive PFAS detection in a significantly smaller, lower-energy and field-deployable format, enabling the only mobile on-site analysis available.

Swansea University and semiconductor applications

As announced on 4 June 2026, Metir continues to work with Swansea University to optimise and commercialise its PFAS technologies, including potential process-monitoring applications in the global semiconductor manufacturing industry.

CISM is a leading research establishment which specialises in developing semiconductor manufacturing processes in collaboration with industry, including monitoring PFAS in industrial waste streams, and is now using a Microsaic Systems PFAS Detector as part of its PFAS research and testing activities.

PFAS detection platform development

The collaborations with CISM and Puraffinity build on Metir's broader PFAS development programme.

As announced on 4 August 2026, field evaluations with ProDecon Services showed that the Group's proprietary miniaturised mass spectrometry platform could generate high-quality PFAS analytical data under challenging non-laboratory conditions, including ambient working temperatures up to 35°C.

FIDCHEM is also using data generated through the CISM project to develop AI and machine-learning functionality designed to simplify PFAS data interpretation and support broader commercial deployment of the platform.

Streamline Hydro distributor appointment

Metir has appointed Streamline Hydro as a distributor for its Modern Water product portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. Streamline Hydro is an Australia-based hydrogeological, water engineering and environmental consultancy with more than 15 years' experience providing groundwater consulting, monitoring, sampling, field services and specialist equipment.
