The Board of The Mercantile Investment Trust plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Wilson as an independent Non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 3rd August 2026. The appointment was made after a thorough selection process undertaken with the assistance of a third party independent search consultancy.

Richard Wilson has extensive experience in the asset management sector. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of BMO Global Asset Management and, before that, as Chief Executive Officer of F&C Asset Management plc, where he led the company's acquisition by BMO Financial Group.

Mr Wilson began his career in asset management in 1988 as a UK equity manager at HSBC Asset Management (formerly Midland Montagu). He later joined Deutsche Asset Management (formerly Morgan Grenfell), progressing to Managing Director, Global Equities. In 2003, he moved to Gartmore Investment Management where he was Head of International Equity Investments, before joining F&C in 2004. Mr Wilson was previously a Non-Executive Director of Insight Investment Management Limited. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of Albion Crown VCT Plc.

Mr Wilson  does not currently hold any shares in the Company.

No further information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13(2) - (6) of the Financial Conduct Authority's Listing Rules for Mr Wilson.
