Board Change

Judges Scientific, the group focused on acquiring and developing companies in the scientific instrument sector, announces that Brad Ormsby has advised the Board of his intention to step down from his role as Chief Financial Officer and as a Director of the Company.

Brad will remain with the Group until 23 September 2027, ensuring sufficient time to identify his successor and deliver an orderly handover. The Board will now undertake a process to identify and appoint a new Chief Financial Officer and will provide further updates at the appropriate times.

Brad joined Judges as Chief Financial Officer in 2015 and has played a key role in the Group’s development over the past 11 years as it executed its strategy: acquiring and developing a decentralised group of high-quality businesses focussed on generating increasing profits, strong cash conversion, and high returns on total invested capital. During his tenure, the Group has delivered significant value for shareholders through earnings per share growth and increasing dividend returns, and throughout this period, Brad has been instrumental in maintaining the Group’s financial discipline.

David Cicurel, non-executive Chairman and founder of Judges Scientific, commented: “Brad has been at the heart of Judges for more than a decade and has made an outstanding contribution to the Group whilst also thoroughly embracing the Judges culture and becoming amongst its best ambassadors. He joined us when Judges was a considerably smaller Group and has played a leading role in building the financial capabilities required to support its growth.

“Brad is a trusted colleague and friend, and his intelligence, judgement, and unwavering commitment, have been invaluable to me personally and to the Group as a whole. We are fortunate that Brad will remain with us for the next 12 months, allowing us to conduct a thorough search for his successor and ensure an orderly handover. When he steps down, he will do so with my immense gratitude and very best wishes.”

Tim Prestidge, Chief Executive Officer of Judges Scientific, commented: “Brad’s knowledge and understanding of Judges is exceptional. His stewardship of the Group’s finances, his commercial judgement, and the strong and trusting relationships he has built with the Group’s investor community, have each played a pivotal part in the success of the Group.

“I have greatly valued Brad’s support since joining the Group and since becoming Chief Executive, and I am pleased that we will continue working together for the next 12 months. On behalf of colleagues across the Group, I would like to thank Brad for everything he has contributed to Judges.”

Brad Ormsby, Chief Financial Officer of Judges Scientific, commented: “It has been a privilege and honour to serve Judges as its as Chief Financial Officer. Judges is a special business with a unique culture and a clear commitment to conducting business with honesty and integrity. After more than a decade with the Group, I feel that this is the right moment to take a break and consider what comes next.

“I am very proud of what the Group has achieved during my time here and I’m grateful to David, Tim, the Board and my colleagues throughout Judges for their support and friendship. I remain fully committed to the Group over the coming year and to ensuring a seamless transition to my successor. I have every confidence in Judges’ leadership team, business model, and ability to continue delivering long-term value for shareholders.”
