Trading Update

Summary by AI BETAClose X

iFOREX Financial Trading Holdings Ltd. has revised its Adjusted EBITDA forecast for FY 2026 downwards to a range of $0.5 million to $2.5 million, citing significantly weaker trading in August and a July trading income of only $720k compared to $3.1 million in July 2025. This decline is primarily attributed to unprecedented Japanese Yen appreciation following joint currency intervention, which negatively impacted the Group's net client exposure and the USD value of income from Japanese clients. Despite these challenges, key performance indicators remain positive, with new customers up 40% and total deposits up 8% year-on-year in July, and the Group maintains a robust balance sheet with net cash of approximately $10 million.

Trading Update

iFOREX (LSE:IFRX), a leading fintech business with a proprietary online and mobile trading platform for multi-asset contracts for difference ("CFD"), today provides an update on trading and the outlook for the 2026 financial year.

In its trading update for the six months ended 30 June 2026 ("H1 2026"), issued on 27 July 2026, the Company reported good underlying progress in H1 2026, in line with expectations, while noting the ongoing impact on the Group's operating costs from the strength of the ILS against the USD, the Company's reporting currency.

Following that update, trading has been considerably weaker than anticipated, with August to date being unusually subdued, with very low trading income against a backdrop of generally low market volatility.

In addition, full month trading income for July 2026 was only c.$720k compared to c.$3.1 million in July 2025. The principal driver for this was the substantial and, in recent years, unprecedented, joint currency intervention in the Japanese Yen by the Japanese Ministry of Finance and the US Treasury on 30 and 31 July 2026. The intervention followed the Yen reaching a 40-year low against the US Dollar and resulted in an extremely sharp appreciation of the Yen, which moved against the Group's net client exposure.  The Board also notes that, as Japanese clients fund their accounts in Yen, the current weakness of the Yen also has the negative effect of reducing the USD value of trading income from Japanese clients.

Accordingly, whilst noting that the Group's trading performance can be both positive and negative from month to month, in light of the above factors, the Board now expects that Adjusted EBITDA for FY 2026 is likely to be in the range of $0.5 million to $2.5 million.

Notwithstanding the current trading backdrop, the majority of the Group's KPIs remain positive: new customers in July 2026 were up 40% on July 2025, and total deposits were 8% higher year-on-year.  The Group maintains a robust balance sheet, with net cash of c.$10 million as at 17 August 2026 (of which c.$4m is ringfenced for regulatory purposes).

The Company expects to publish its interim results on 24 September 2026.

Itai Sadeh, CEO of iFOREX, commented: "We are disappointed to be issuing this update so soon after our H1 update, reflecting a combination of short-term subdued trading activity and unprecedented exchange rate movements in key currencies against the USD. Nevertheless, we remain confident in the medium and long-term outlook, underpinned by the Group's continued KPI momentum and the ongoing delivery of our strategic plan. As we have seen historically, the operational leverage in our business means periods of weaker performance can be followed by strong rebounds."
