EnergyPathways (AIM: EPP), the energy transition company, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Alison Louise Flower as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Alison Flower is a geostrategic energy expert with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector and energy policy. She served as Senior Energy Advisor at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for six years (2019 to 2025), advising on energy security, energy transition policy and energy diplomacy. Drawing upon her experience in the UK and global energy sectors and within Government, Alison will provide the Company with commercial and policy insight as the Company progresses its MESH energy storage project ("MESH").
The MESH project is expected to be Britain's largest integrated energy storage project and is designed to bolster Britain's energy security and lower consumer bills. Designated a project of "national significance" by the UK Government, MESH combines compressed air energy storage ("CAES") with natural gas and hydrogen storage. MESH is located in the Irish Sea and connected into Barrow-in-Furness, the project will utilise large-scale subsea storage, designed to store energy in a highly cost-effective manner. Its licence area has the potential to support the construction of up to 60 sub-surface salt caverns and subject to approvals and financing, MESH is targeted to enter operation in 2031.
Mark Steeves, Chair of EnergyPathways, said:
"Alison brings to the Company an exceptional combination of industry knowledge, policy expertise and strategic insight that will be highly valuable as we advance the MESH project and the Company's growth plans. Alison will also help us to communicate the strategic relevance of the project, in particular its long duration energy storage capabilities and the exciting sustainable industrial opportunities that it offers, in particular in graphite production."
Alison Flower said:
"I'm delighted to be joining the Board of EnergyPathways and to support the company's development of the MESH project, a project which will play a significant role in strengthening UK energy security, supporting renewable integration, helping deliver long duration energy storage infrastructure at scale and creating new employment opportunities."
