CRISM Therapeutics Corporation
('CRISM', 'CRISM Therapeutics' or the 'Company')
Significant Grant Award
Innovate UK Grant to Advance Phase 2 Registration-Grade Trial in Glioblastoma
CRISM Therapeutics Corporation (AIM: CRTX), a UK clinical-stage drug delivery company focused on the localised and sustained delivery of chemotherapy drugs, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an £896,088 non-dilutive grant from Innovate UK under the Biomedical Catalyst 2025: Industry-led R&D Large Projects competition. The grant represents 70% of the total £1,280,125 project cost and will support the delivery of Part 1 of CRISM's open label Phase 2 registration-grade clinical trial for irinotecan-ChemoSeed in patients with surgically resectable glioblastoma (GBM).
This award is one of the most competitive translational funding programmes in the UK, in which CRISM received an exceptionally strong application score of 90.6%, reflecting the scientific, clinical and commercial strength of the programme.
The Company believes the funding award provides:
1. Substantial non-dilutive funding
2. Independent validation of CRISM's clinical strategy, technology and commercial potential
3. Help to accelerate the trial by recruiting more patients over a shorter period
4. Strengthened positioning for future partnering, licensing and investment discussions
The funding, together with the funds raised via the Company's recent equity raise, enables CRISM to advance a clinical programme in one of the most challenging and underserved areas of oncology, where there remains no effective standard of care for recurrent disease.
The 12-month project will deliver Part 1 of an open label Phase 2 registration-grade clinical trial, designed to generate critical safety, dosing and early efficacy data required to support regulatory approval and NHS adoption. The trial will be conducted across leading UK neuro-oncology Centres of Excellence, positioning irinotecan-ChemoSeed for rapid clinical adoption if successful.
Key outputs from the project include:
· Identification of dose-limiting toxicities and optimal dosing strategy
· Validation of safety and tolerability in recurrent GBM patients
· Generation of clinical efficacy signals, including progression-free survival and response rates
· Data to support regulatory submissions and commercialisation strategy
Irinotecan-ChemoSeed is an implantable, biodegradable drug-delivery system designed to deliver sustained, high-dose local chemotherapy directly to the tumour resection margin, where recurrence most commonly occurs. Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive cancers, with a median survival typically 8 to 15 months, less than a 5% five-year survival rate, with approximately 3,500 new UK cases annually. If successful in clinical development and subsequently approved, ChemoSeed has the potential to address a significant unmet need in recurrent GBM. Furthermore, the Board believes there is potential value of ChemoSeed as a platform technology, applicable across multiple indications.
Andrew Webb, Executive Chairman of CRISM Therapeutics, commented:
"We are delighted to secure this highly competitive Innovate UK Biomedical Catalyst award, which represents a major endorsement of both our technology and strategy. This non-dilutive funding enables us to accelerate part 1 our open-label registration-grade Phase 2 trial in glioblastoma, a disease with profound unmet need and limited treatment options. We look forward to updating shareholders in the near term on the commencement and progress of the Phase 2 trial as we advance this important programme.

About CRISM Therapeutics Corporation
CRISM Therapeutics Corporation has developed an innovative drug delivery technology to improve the clinical performance of cancer treatments for solid tumours through the local delivery of chemotherapy drugs.
ChemoSeed, CRISM's lead product, can be implanted directly into the tumour or the resection margin following the removal of a tumour. This directs that therapeutic concentrations of chemotherapy drugs reach the deep-seated tumour tissue or cover the entire resection margin. In the case of treating glioblastoma, ChemoSeeds can be implanted during surgery thereby bypassing the blood brain barrier, which prevents other treatments from being able to reach the tumour and be effective.
