Grant Award

Award of Non-Dilutive Grant to Advance Docetaxel-ChemoSeed Programme in Prostate Cancer

CRISM Therapeutics Corporation (AIM: CRTX), a UK clinical-stage drug delivery company focused on the localised and sustained delivery of chemotherapy drugs, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a non-dilutive research and development grant of up to £99,902 from Invest Northern Ireland ("InvestNI") representing 61% of eligible project expenditure, to support the continued development of its docetaxel-ChemoSeed programme for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The grant provides targeted funding to accelerate key technical, preclinical and regulatory activities through non-dilutive capital. The funded programme of work is scheduled to run through to March 2027.

The Board believes this award reflects the commercial potential of the ChemoSeed platform and its application in prostate cancer, one of the largest oncology markets globally. This funding enables CRISM to advance critical development milestones, while maintaining capital efficiency and strengthening the overall value proposition of the programme.

The grant will support a focused programme of work designed to progress docetaxel-ChemoSeed toward clinical development, including:

1.    Development and optimisation of a scalable manufacturing process

2.    Establishment and validation of analytical methods

3.    Scale-up of manufacturing processes to support future Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) translation

4.    In vivo pharmacokinetic, efficacy, and toxicity studies to further define the therapeutic profile of the programme

5.    Preparation for regulatory engagement, including planning for scientific advice with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ("MHRA") and mapping clinical trial requirements

Docetaxel-ChemoSeed is designed to deliver localised, sustained chemotherapy directly to tumour tissue, with the aim of improving therapeutic outcomes while reducing systemic toxicity associated with conventional administration.

Prostate cancer remains one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide, with a significant clinical and economic burden. The Board believes that targeted local delivery approaches such as ChemoSeed have the potential to address key limitations of current treatment paradigms.

The funded programme is expected to generate critical data and the manufacturing capability required to support future regulatory submissions and clinical development, positioning the asset for potential partnering, licensing, or further non-dilutive funding opportunities.

Professor Chris McConville, Chief Scientific Officer of CRISM Therapeutics, commented:
"We are delighted to secure this Invest NI grant, as it enables us to accelerate the development of our docetaxel-ChemoSeed prostate cancer programme. Non-dilutive funding of this kind is invaluable as it permits us to advance manufacturing, preclinical and regulatory workstreams in parallel, moving the programme closer to clinical development. Prostate cancer is one of the largest oncology indications globally, and we believe that ChemoSeed's localised delivery approach offers a genuinely differentiated treatment option. Finally, this grant also allows us to further unlock the value of ChemoSeed as a platform technology, which we believe is applicable across multiple therapeutic indications.''

About CRISM Therapeutics Corporation

CRISM Therapeutics Corporation has developed an innovative drug delivery technology to improve the clinical performance of cancer treatments for solid tumours through the local delivery of chemotherapy drugs.

ChemoSeed, CRISM's lead product, can be implanted directly into the tumour or the resection margin following the removal of a tumour. This directs that therapeutic concentrations of chemotherapy drugs reach the deep-seated tumour tissue or cover the entire resection margin. In the case of treating glioblastoma, ChemoSeeds can be implanted during surgery thereby bypassing the blood brain barrier, which prevents other treatments from being able to reach the tumour and be effective.
