Aurrigo awarded £1.43m UK Government grant
Aurrigo International plc (AIM: AURR), a leading international provider of transport technology solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded £1.43m in grant funding from the UK Government to investigate how autonomous vehicles can be used to make airports safer.
The company will use the CAM Pathfinder grant to deploy its Auto-Shuttle® vehicles to complete several routine tasks, including performing security patrols, perimeter inspections and the review of runway and taxiway surfaces for cracks, wear or loose objects that can cause serious damage to an aircraft.
The grant forms part of the UK Government's £150 million CAM Pathfinder programme, delivered by the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade in partnership with Zenzic and Innovate UK. All UK Government grant funding is subject to HMG approval.
David Keene, CEO of Aurrigo International, commented:
"This grant funding reflects the quality of our autonomous vehicle technology and our commitment to building the next generation of intelligent, sustainable, and scalable transport systems. The project aims to free-up experienced airport staff for the work that genuinely needs human judgement and gives airports a practical way to raise their safety standards.
Beyond this particular project, the grant award further strengthens our technology leadership and expands the application of our autonomous solutions, supporting the continued deployment and scaling of our technology across airport and logistics operations.
We look forward to working alongside the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, Zenzic and Innovate UK to keep the UK at the forefront of autonomous vehicle and airport innovation."
Mark Cracknell, Programme Director at Zenzic, said:
"Today's announcement builds on all of the fantastic progress made by CAM Pathfinder so far and puts the UK firmly in the driving seat when it comes to developing and deploying the CAM solutions of tomorrow.
From construction to public roads and airside, these projects have the potential to transform UK businesses, create and safeguard hundreds of jobs and further strengthen the domestic supply chain."
