On 10 July 2025 ASB announced that Mr Mark Verbiest will join the Board of ASB Bank Limited, effective 1 October 2025, subject to Reserve Bank of New Zealand non-objection.

Mr Verbiest is the current Chair of Meridian Energy and Chair of Summerset Group Holdings. He has previously been Chair of Freightways, Willis Bond Capital Partners, Spark New Zealand and Transpower New Zealand. He has been a director of a number of other companies and entities including the Financial Markets Authority and a member of the advisory board to NZ Treasury.

ASB Chair Dame Therese Walsh said "we are delighted to welcome Mark to the Board. Mark is a highly experienced company director and executive. He has diverse experience, including legal practice, telecommunications, energy, technology, financial services, and retirement living. His governance style and the success of the companies he chairs earned him recognition as the Chairperson of the Year 2022 at the Deloitte Top 200 awards."

Mr Verbiest will join existing directors Chair Dame Therese Walsh, Managing Director Vittoria Shortt, Ross Buckley, Rod Carr, Victoria Crone, Colin MacDonald, Juliet Tainui-Hernandez, and Nigel Williams on the ASB Board.
