London and Lagos, 22 July 2026: Airtel Africa plc, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries across Africa, announces the appointment of Mr. V.K. Viswanathan as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.

Mr. V.K. Viswanathan will also join the Audit and Risk Committee with effect from the same date.

Vish Viswanathan brings over four decades of international business and finance leadership experience, having served among many assignments, first as CFO and Joint Managing Director of Bosch Limited and later as Managing Director, President and Country Head of Bosch Group in India. Prior to that, Vish worked as Group Treasurer, Financial Controller, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Audit Head for Asia Pacific at Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Unilever plc. In both the multinational companies, he led significant business transformation, growth and complex business restructuring programmes across multiple jurisdictions.

Vish brings extensive Board and Audit Committee experience, having chaired the Boards of United Spirits Limited (a Diageo plc subsidiary) and Bosch Limited. He has also chaired the Audit and Risk Committees of several listed and unlisted Indian and multinational companies underpinned by deep expertise in business, financial and risk management, governance and stakeholder oversight gained through varied senior executive and board leadership roles in global organisations, including the telecoms sector.
