Dawnay, Day Carpathian PLC ('the Company') announces that it has been informed
today that on 9th November 2007 The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (GS Inc.) has an
interest on behalf of Goldman, Sachs & Co., Goldman Sachs Asset Management
International & Goldman Sachs Asset Management, L.P. of voting rights in
12,635,155 shares, representing 5.51% of the issued share capital of the company
being 229,363,349 ordinary shares.


The interest in 4,563,000 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs &
Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for its
customers. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of Goldman Sachs
Securities (Nominees), Limited.

The interest in 3,711,907 shares arose from the interest held by Goldman Sachs
Asset Management International, a wholly owned subsidiary of GS Inc acting as
discretionary manager. We believe that some of these shares are, or will be,
registered in the name of Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees), Limited ('GSSN').

The interest in 4,360,248 shares arose from the interest held by Goldman Sachs
Asset Management, LP a wholly owned subsidiary of GS Inc acting as discretionary
manager. We believe that some of these shares are, or will be, registered in the
name of Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees), Limited ('GSSN').
