                      Change of Accounting Reference Date

VANE announces that its financial year end has been amended from 30 September to
31 December, with immediate effect, in order to bring its accounting reference
date in line with its overseas subsidiaries in the United States and Mexico.

VANE will announce its un-audited interim results for the six months to 30
September 2004 in November 2004. VANE's audited results for the 15 months to 31
December 2004 will be published within the first half of 2005.
