AGM Statement

Young & Co's Brewery PLC 16 July 2002 16th July 2002 YOUNG & CO.'S BREWERY, P.L.C. Chairman's AGM Trading Statement In his statement to shareholders at today's AGM, John Young, Chairman of Young & Co's Brewery PLC made the following comments about current trading: 'Trading during the first quarter has been mixed, with continued economic uncertainty, reduced tourism levels and the appalling summer weather to date offsetting the uplift some of our pubs experienced from the Jubilee weekend and the World Cup. 'Investment in the business continues. Since the year-end we have purchased the freehold interest in four of our leasehold properties and acquired a managed pub, Dunstan House in Burnham on Sea. 'Whilst the economic outlook remains unclear it is too early for us to be predicting the outcome for the year as a whole. We are confident, however, that the continued implementation of our strategy and our focus on producing high quality ales, will give us the best possible platform to meet any challenges head on.'
