NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES

The Company received a notification today from Hermes Administration Services
Limited, on behalf of BriTel Fund Trustees Limited The Trustees of BT Pension
Scheme, informing it that they have a material interest in 765,743 shares,
representing 3.705% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  The
shares are registered in the name of BriTel Fund Nominees Limited.
