Signing of Licence with Major Japanese Corporation

                  Xaar plc - Major New Licence

Xaar  plc, the Cambridge-based inkjet printing technology  group,
has today announced the signing of a significant new licence with
a major Japanese Corporation.

Graham Wylie, Chief Executive of Xaar said, 'We are delighted  to
announce  this  major new licence deal with  a  world  leader  in
consumer  electronics and office printing, although  disappointed
that we are, at the request of the licensee, currently unable  to
disclose their identity at present.

'Following on from our excellent results for 1999 announced  last
week,  this  represents a very encouraging start to  the  current
year'.

Xaar  now  has ten licensees for its ink jet printing  technology
and is pursuing several other opportunities.  Products containing
the  Xaar technology are currently being shown at CeBIT - the  IT
show  in  Hanover  - and will be launched at  DRUPA  2000  -  the
digital printing show held every 5 years in Dusseldorf in May.
