Appointment of non-executive chairman

Wynnstay, the agricultural supplies and specialist retail group, is pleased to announce that non-executive vice chairman, James ("Jim") McCarthy is stepping up into the role of non-executive chairman with immediate effect.

Jim joined the Board of Wynnstay in July 2011, becoming vice-chairman in April 2012 and he takes over the role of chairman from Gareth Owen, who, sadly, died this summer.  Jim is also chief executive of Poundland Ltd. 

Ken Greetham, chief executive, commented,

"We are delighted that Jim is becoming chairman of the Board of Wynnstay. The company has benefited from his significant commercial and management experience since he joined the Board in July 2011 and he will make an excellent successor to Gareth Owen, who was a much respected colleague."
