WPP GROUP PLC ('the Company')
On 15 December, 1999 WPP received the following notification pursuant to
section 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 from Putnam Investments. The
registered interests are those of Putnam Investment Management, Inc and The
Putnam Advisory Company, Inc (together 'Putnam').
Putnam now has a beneficial interest in 29,968,962 WPP Ordinary shares. This
holding represents 3.87% of WPP's issued Ordinary Share Capital.
