WPP received on 20 September 1999 the following notification pursuant to
sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985.

Fidelity Investments interests have now increased to 4.07% of WPP's issued
Ordinary Share Capital.

The interests are those of: 

1.  FMR Corp., parent company of Fidelity Management & Research Company
   ('FMRCO') and Fidelity Management Trust Company ('FMTC').


2.  Fidelity International Limited ('FIL'), parent company of Fidelity
    Investment Services Limited ('FISL') and Fidelity Pension Management  
    Limited('FPML').

3.  Mr Edward C Johnson 3rd, principal shareholder of FMR Corp. and FIL.
