Repurchase Programme

WPP Group plc ("WPP" or the "Company") announces that it has entered into an irrevocable and non-discretionary arrangement with its broker to repurchase on its behalf and within certain pre-set parameters, ordinary shares in the Company for cancellation during the period commencing on 1st July 2008 and ending on 21st August 2008, being the period between the end of the first six months of the Company's financial year and the proposed publication of the Company's 2008 Interim Results announcement. This arrangement is subject to certain conditions and is in accordance with Chapter 12 of the Listing Rules and the Company's general authority to repurchase shares.
