WPP Group PLC 24 September 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 24 September 2001 WPP GROUP PLC ('WPP') Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide acquires French PR firm, AKKA WPP announces that its wholly-owned operating company, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide ('Ogilvy PR') has acquired the entire issued share capital of AKKA S.A., a Paris-based public relations firm. Founded in 1994, AKKA has 22 employees and a diverse client roster that includes Amadeus, The Carlyle Group, The Compass Group, Deloitte Consulting, FTSE, Infonet, Pernod Ricard, Sony and Unibail. Combined, as it will be, with Ogilvy PR's existing healthcare practice in Paris, which services clients like Pfizer, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson, this acquisition strengthens Ogilvy's PR's presence in France, making it a leading force. 'France is one of the world's largest economies, so it is critical that we have a strong presence there and in AKKA we have found a partner that meshes perfectly with our global expertise and culture,' said Nick May, President of Ogilvy PR Europe. AKKA had revenues of FF11,368,000 in 2000 and net assets of FF6,426,000 as at 31 December 2000.
