Shipley Site Sold for £3.5m

Worthington Group PLC 15 February 2000 Worthington Group plc today announced that it has exchanged contracts for the sale of its Shipley, West Yorkshire, site for £3.5m. This is subject to planning permission being obtained for a change of use, with completion anticipated by the end of 2000, but no later than June 2001. The property is being vacated and the worsted weaving business of S Jerome & Sons Limited is being relocated in nearby properties held by the Group. This move should be completed by the end of May 2000. The worsted weaving will then have been rationalised, with a much smaller cost base and increased profitability, so as to be able to service its customers more effectively and competitively.
