                            Chairman's AGM Statement


At today's Annual General Meeting in Aberdeen, Sir Ian Wood, Chairman and Chief
Executive of John Wood Group PLC, the international energy services provider,
commented:


'We are pleased to report that 2002 was another excellent year for the Group. We
successfully completed our IPO, achieved record financial results and made good
progress in building on our differentiation and market leading positions in each
of our key long-term strategic growth areas.


These results again confirm that our broad geographic coverage, our business
spread across the energy sector and our focus on less cyclical activities within
oil & gas provide both growth and financial resilience.


Since the announcement of our 2002 annual results in March, we continue to make
steady progress towards our objectives for 2003 and we are trading in line with
expectations, against a background of uncertain world political and economic
conditions,.


Overall, we are confident 2003 will be another year of successful growth for the
Group and I look forward to the future with confidence.'
