                                 AGM STATEMENT

              'WINCANTON CONTINUES GOOD PROGRESS IN CURRENT YEAR'


Victor Benjamin, Chairman of Wincanton, gave the following trading update at the
Company's AGM this morning.

'We have made an encouraging start to the year and are confident that 2004/05
will be a year of further growth and progress towards our strategic objectives.

Our markets remain challenging but our new business development teams remain
very active. Since the year-end, new contract gains in the UK include Argos,
Sainsbury and a reverse logistics contract with Index. In Continental Europe, we
have added new business with Numico and GE Power and Lighting in Poland, and
with Mitsubishi SCM Europe in the Netherlands.

We have also recently finalised the outstanding Completion Accounts issues in
respect of our Trans European acquisition and a payment of £7.8m, including
interest, has been received from the vendor.'
