Wilmington Group Plc 09 December 2002 For Immediate Release 9 December 2002 WILMINGTON GROUP PLC APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIRMAN AND RETIREMENT OF BRIAN GILBERT Wilmington Group plc ('Wilmington' or the 'Group') announces that Bernard Jolles will become its non-executive Chairman with effect from 1 January 2003. He will succeed Brian Gilbert (59) who has decided to retire as Chairman and stand down from the board on 31 December 2002. Mr Gilbert has led Wilmington since its flotation in 1995. Bernard Jolles (53) joined the Board of Wilmington in July 2001. He is currently senior non-executive Director, Chairman of the Group's Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committees. Commenting on his retirement and the new appointment, Brian Gilbert said: 'After more than a decade of close association with the Wilmington group of companies, I am delighted to have Bernard succeed me as Chairman. In the 18 months since he joined the board, my colleagues and I have all benefited from his sound advice and counsel. With his 25 years of corporate finance and City experience, I am confident that Bernard has all the necessary qualities to guide the company through the years ahead.'
