Following the announcement by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry that
he had decided to refer the proposed acquistion of Allied Domecq Retailing by
Whitbread to the Competition Commission, and the subsequent announcement by
Whitbread that it will not proceed with the transaction, the Extraordinary
General Meeting of the Company scheduled to take place at 10 am on Monday 26
July has been adjourned indefinitely.
