                       Completion of sale of Pizza Hut UK

                             Joint Venture Interest

Whitbread PLC ('Whitbread') is pleased to announce the completion today of the
sale of its 50% shareholding in Pizza Hut UK Limited to Yum! Restaurant Holdings
('Yum') announced on 31st July 2006.  This follows approval of the sale by
Whitbread shareholders at the EGM on 4th September and Yum receiving clearance
from the E.U. competition authorities.
