          Whitbread announces Managing Director appointments for its
             David Lloyd Leisure and Premier Travel Inn brands

Whitbread today announces the appointment of Mike Tye, currently Managing
Director of Premier Travel Inn as Managing Director, David Lloyd Leisure.   He
will take over from Stewart Miller who will be stepping down from his executive
duties and as a director of the company on 30 September 2005.

Patrick Dempsey, former Managing Director of Whitbread's Marriott division, will
succeed Mike Tye at Premier Travel Inn as Managing Director.  Both appointments
will take effect from 1 October 2005.

Alan Parker, Whitbread's chief executive, said: 'Mike has an excellent track
record. His strong sales and commercial background makes him the ideal leader to
grow the David Lloyd Leisure brand in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
He leaves Premier Travel Inn in great shape with the integration of Premier
Lodge well advanced.  Patrick is one of the industry's most experienced and
respected hotel operators and is ideally suited to taking Premier Travel Inn
forward, building on the brand's success to date and pursuing its expansion
plans.

role in helping to shape what has now become the UK's leading hospitality
