Whitbread - directorate change
Whitbread PLC today announced the appointment of Angie Risley to the company's
board with effect from 1st May 2004.
Mrs Risley, 45, has been Whitbread's Group Human Resources Director since 2001
and has held similar roles with Pizza Hut (UK), the Whitbread Hotel Company and
Whitbread Restaurants. She is a member of the Low Pay Commission.
Sir John Banham, chairman, said: 'Angie has already made a major contribution
to the transformation of Whitbread over the last three years - particularly
through the development of a vigorous performance culture throughout a business
which employs 65,000 people.
'As a member of the board, she will also take on the direction of Whitbread's
corporate social responsibility programme - in health and safety, the
environment and community initiatives - which are so important to the company.'
In accordance with standard practice, Mrs Risley will stand for election at the
annual general meeting on June 15th, 2004.
