                 RESIGNATION OF DIRECTOR


JD Wetherspoon plc ('JD Wetherspoon') announces that
Rosalyn Schofield, legal director and company secretary,
has decided to resign from the Company in order to spend
more time with her family.  Rosalyn will leave JD
Wetherspoon at the end of July 2001.  Jim Clarke, finance
director, will assume the role of company secretary.


Tim Martin, chairman of JD Wetherspoon, said:

contributed throughout that time to the success of the
group.  We thank her for all her efforts and wish her
