JD Wetherspoon was today advised that, as at 24 October 2005, Devon County
Council has a material interest in 8,609,165 ordinary shares, representing
5.086% of the company's issued share capital. The shares are registered in the
name of Chase Nominees Limited and are not held as a direct holding of the
County Council but as an interested party by virtue of its relationship with
Hermes Focus Asset Management Limited.
