Directorate change 

JD Wetherspoon plc ("JD Wetherspoon" or the "Company") announces that John Herring has informed the Board of his intention to not stand for re-election at the Company's forthcoming General Meeting in November 2011.

John joined the Board of JD Wetherspoon in 1997. He is the senior non-executive director of the Company, is chairman of the audit and nomination committees and a member of the remuneration committee.  The Board has commenced a process to seek to identify a suitable replacement.

Tim Martin, Chairman of JD Wetherspoon, said:

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank John for all that he has done for JD Wetherspoon over many years. His independent approach, considerable knowledge of the Company and relevant financial expertise have served the Board and the Company well; we will miss the benefit of his wise counsel. We wish him well in all his future endeavours."
