JD Wetherspoon plc was today advised that Mr Anthony Carmel Lowrie, a
non-executive director, on Monday 7 June 2004 sold 200,000 ordinary shares in
the company at a price of 291.46p per share and today sold 190,000 at a price of
286.24p.

Following this transaction Mr Lowrie now has a beneficial interest in 7,471,619
shares.
