Mr John Hutson, Chief Executive Officer, of JD Wetherspoon plc, today exercised
40,000 options to subscribe to ordinary  2p shares, the exercise consisted of
40,000 options at 299p.

Mr Hutson immediately sold 35,000 of the company's ordinary shares at a price of
560.5p per share and has retained  5,000 as shares.

Following this transaction, Mr Hutson now holds an interest of 99,867 ordinary
shares in the Company.
