December 2000 Sales Update
Sales in the five weeks to 31 December 2000 totalled £49.7
million, a rise of 31% compared to the same period last year.
Like-for-like sales in our mature pubs increased by 10%.
Sales in the financial year to date (the 22 weeks to 31
December) were £194.1 million, also 31% ahead of the same
period last year. Year to date like-for-like sales have
increased by 7%. New pub openings have been in line with our
expectations, with 38 opened in the 22 weeks, and bringing the
total number to 466.
This performance continues the trend reported in our first
quarter sales update and puts the Company in a strong position
at the start of the new calendar year.
