Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange and UK Listing Authority
for 194,583 Ordinary shares of 2p each to be admitted to the Daily Official List
on 31 January 2002.  The Shares to be issued have been allotted to J D
Wetherspoon plc Qualifying Employee Share Ownership Trust ('the QUEST') in order
to satisfy options under the 1998 Sharesave Scheme.
