New Airports MoU - Asia

Westminster Group Plc ('Westminster'), the AIM listed supplier of managed services and technology based security solutions to governments and government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGO's) and blue chip commercial organisations worldwide, is pleased to announce that its Managed Services Division, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Westminster Aviation Security Services ('WASS'), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") with a government owned airport authority (the 'Authority') in Asia for the long term provision of airport security within the country.

The MoU confirms the Authority's intention to enter into contract discussions with WASS to create a world-class airport security operation at the country's international airports which are experiencing significant growth and currently serving in excess of 2 million passengers annually.

The intention would be for WASS to provide a complete ground security operational solution including the provision of enhanced technology, manpower, training and maintenance services under a long term concession agreement.

Westminster will be deploying a team of aviation security experts to undertake a comprehensive survey of the airports concerned producing a full gap analysis and project plan which will form the basis for contract negotiations.

Commenting on the MoU award Peter Fowler, Chief Executive of Westminster Group, said:

"I am delighted to announce this latest development in our roll out of airport security services around the world particularly given the size, location and potential of this particular project.  We have previously referred to the range of locations offering potential projects.  This MoU demonstrates the progress being made in the prospect list, which remains active and growing.

"We have been in discussions with the Government concerned for some time and the signing of this MoU is a significant step forward. I am pleased that the Authority has chosen to now enter into formal contract negotiations with Westminster, which is a clear indication of Westminster's global reach and reputation and which enhances our potential opportunities in Asia.

"Our strategy of developing long term, recurring revenue, managed services projects protecting critical infrastructure such as airports, ports and harbours around the world is gathering momentum and, as previously reported, we are now in discussions with a number of governments and authorities across several continents regarding large scale, long term (typically 15 - 25 years) projects, of which this is just one example.

"Whilst there is of course no certainty as to timing or the final outcome of this or any of the project opportunities in progress, the spread and extent of the opportunities we are now exploring together with the growing interest in our services from around the world and recent contract wins, such as the 21 year Ferry Service contract in West Africa, means the Board and I remain excited about the continuing growth prospects for our business."
