                          Transfer of Treasury Shares


The Weir Group PLC ('the Company') announces that on 1 April 2008, 376,981
ordinary shares of 12.5p each held as treasury shares were transferred to
participants to satisfy awards granted in 2005 under the Group Long-Term
Incentive Plan.

Following the above transfer, the Company now holds 2,462,300 ordinary shares in
treasury and has 209,687,099 ordinary shares in issue (excluding shares held as
treasury shares).
