Fidelity International Limited ('FIL') and FMR Corp notified The Weir Group PLC
('the Company') on 28 February 2006 that their material interest totalled on 21
February 2006 a holding of 16,053,750 ordinary shares in the Company
representing 7.82% of the Company's issued share capital as detailed in the
table below, and that such notification also comprised the interest of Edward C.
Johnson III as a principal shareholder of FIL and FMR Corp.

The notification of change is due to the sale of 2,312,300 ordinary shares.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 205,207,119
ordinary shares of GBP0.125.
