Letter to Company Announcements Office

We confirm having received notification from Schroder Investment Management
Limited on 28th March 2001 that they and their subsidiary and affiliated
companies have an interest in an overall aggregate of 27,577,336 shares
representing 13.73% of the shares in issue.

27,302,739 shares are held in portfolios managed on a discretionary basis for
clients under investment management agreements and 274,597 shares are managed by
an affiliated company on a passive basis for clients under the investment
management agreements.
