Vodafone AirTouch PLC 10 November 1999 VODAFONE ACQUIRES SCOTTISH SERVICE PROVIDER Vodafone Distribution Limited, a subsidiary of Vodafone AirTouch Plc, has today announced that it has acquired ScottishPower Telecommunications (Services) Limited, a joint venture between Scottish Power UK plc and Martin Dawes Telecommunications Limited. The company operates a telecommunications service provider business in Scotland. The acquisition will be effective from today, and, with immediate effect, the company has been renamed Vodafone (Scotland) Limited. Vodafone (Scotland) Limited has approximately 66,000 customers, some 90 per cent of whom are connected to the Vodafone network. The business is based in East Kilbride, south of Glasgow, and operates 25 retail stores in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North-East of England. It has approximately 300 employees. The consideration to be paid to the sellers is approximately £13 million. Commenting, Peter Bamford, Chief Executive of Vodafone UK Limited, said: 'We are delighted to have concluded this deal with ScottishPower and Martin Dawes, with whom we have had a successful relationship for many years. We plan to integrate the business into our UK distribution structure.'
