 VODAFONE AIRTOUCH DECIDES NOT TO LAUNCH PROPOSED IPO OF
                    VODAFONE PACIFIC

Vodafone  AirTouch  Plc ('Vodafone  AirTouch')  announces
today  that it will not launch a proposed initial  public
offering  of  its  majority owned  Australian  subsidiary
Vodafone Pacific, at this time in view of current  market
conditions and volatility in the global equity markets in
general  and the telecommunications and media sectors  in
particular.

This  decision  comes notwithstanding the high  level  of
interest  in  Vodafone Pacific shown  by  Australian  and
international investors during the course of informal pre-
marketing.    Vodafone  AirTouch  remains  committed   to
pursuing an initial public offering, and will continue to
monitor  market conditions in order to assess the optimal
timing for the transaction.
