Vodafone Group Plc ('the Company')

Vodafone Group Plc was notified on 15 October 2001 that Hutchison Whampoa
Limited and their direct subsidiaries had reduced their holding in the
ordinary share capital of the Company to 2.9538% based on the ordinary share
capital as at 11 October 2001, and therefore they no longer hold a notifiable
interest in the ordinary share capital of the Company.
