                    The Vitec Group plc ('the Company')

The Vitec Group plc announces that, on 30 April 2008, it acquired 50,000 shares
of the Company through Dresdner Kleinwort at a price of 453p per share, to be
held as treasury shares.


Following the purchase of these shares, Vitec holds 150,000 of its shares in
treasury and has 41,955,242 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
