                 Michael Harper appointed Non-Executive Director

The Vitec Group plc, ('Vitec'), the international supplier of products, services
and solutions to the Broadcast, Entertainment and Media industries, announces
that Mr Michael Harper has today been appointed as a Non-Executive Director.

Mr Harper, 59, is chief executive of Kidde plc, the international fire
protection business.  He currently holds Non-Executive posts at Ricardo plc and
Umeco plc.

Having spent the early part of his career with Vickers in a variety of senior
roles Mr Harper was appointed Managing Director of Graviner Limited in 1984 and
became the Managing Director of the Kidde Division of Williams plc in 1988.  He
served as a director of Williams plc from 1998 and became Chief Executive of
Kidde plc at the time of its demerger from Williams in November 2000.

He holds a First Class BSc Honours Degree in Engineering from Kings College,
London and a MSc in Operational Research and Management Studies from Imperial
College, London.

It is confirmed, pursuant to the Listing Rules, that Mr Harper does not have any

Listing Rules.
