COOKSON GROUP plc FOURTH QUARTER TRADING UPDATE


Cookson Group plc announces that, taking account of trading to date during the
fourth quarter, results for the year are expected to be in line with market
estimates.

A full update on trading will be provided to the market on Tuesday 15 January
2002 and a conference call will be held for analysts and other interested
parties on that day. Details of the call will be made available in the week
commencing 7 January 2002.
