Provident Financial plc is delighted to confirm, pursuant to its announcement on
5 December 2006, that Robert Hough joined the board as an independent
non-executive director on 1 February 2007.

Robert Hough has a beneficial interest in 850 shares in the company.  The
registered shareholder is Rulegale Nominees Limited a/c GENRL PEP.

Provident Financial also announces that Graham Pimlott, who has been an
independent non-executive director since 2003, will be leaving the board on 27
February 2007.  The board thanks him for his valuable contribution and wishes
him well for the future.
